Individual Counseling
Investigate the Self
At The Maine Relationship Institute, we offer space for you to work one-on-one with a therapist for individual counseling.
Navigate the dynamics of your relationships, the challenges you may experience in those relationships, and take a deeper look at yourself.
What approach does The Maine Relationship Institute use in Individual Therapy?
Often, when we feel a sense of disconnect or alienation from our surroundings and/or peers, it is due to a lack of connection.
Sometimes, we may experience feelings of loneliness or distance or sense we're missing intimacy.
Using Gestalt and Crucible Therapy ®, MRI founder Ben Borkan can accompany you on the journey of self-exploration.
Reflect, revive, and deepen your relationship with yourself, your environment, and others.
“I've read that authenticity with oneself can strengthen authentic relationships with myself and with others.
Is this something I can get help with at MRI?”
Yes. At MRI, we want to help you see your authentic self. We believe that we strengthen our relationships with others when we see our authentic selves.
We want to help you be honest with what you see in yourself, and looking at yourself deeply can bring up very normal feelings of vulnerability and inadequacy that can lead to intense discomfort.
It takes courage to sit with this discomfort, and if we can sit with this and break through it, we may genuinely see our strengths, all that we offer to ourselves and others, and as a result, we may be able to:
Better clarify our path
Better clarify our role in our own life
Better clarify our roles in the lives of those in relationship with us
With compassion, we can help you sit with and untangle this discomfort.
At MRI, we do this with and by teaching tools of self-empathy, self-understanding, acceptance, and forgiveness.
Does MRI take clients who have never been to a therapist before?
Yes, MRI takes clients who have never been to a therapist before.
